What about competitive
products?
There are several products on the market
that, on the surface, appear similar to the KegelMaster, but there is no
other product that provides the same flexibility and quality.
The KegelMaster was the first product of
this type on the market. It was also the first to be patented.
The current model is the second generation KegelMaster - improving on an
already effective product. After the obvious success of the
KegelMaster, similar products began appearing on the market. They
say "imitation is the highest form of flattery", but don't be
misled. They are not the same.

Why is "resistance"
important?
Consider trying strengthening and toning
your arm muscles merely by squeezing them? How effective would that
be?
The KegelMaster offers women a safe and effective way to do Kegel
exercises with added resistance to rapidly produce stronger vaginal
muscles. Resistance is the key to effective Kegel exercises. If we use
weights at the gym, or at home to improve our bodies, then women should
seriously consider using progressive dynamic resistance when doing their
Kegel exercises.
The big thing is
that you focus on working the muscles. The most important concept in a
resistance training is PROGRESSION. To make changes in your body you must
continue to challenge the muscles by gradually but consistently increasing
the load placed on them. This is where one of the basic tenets of training
comes to light- the S.A.I.D. principle. The Specific Adaptation to Imposed
Demands principle means that your muscles will adapt only to the demands
placed on them. Therefore, for continued improvement, you need to place
ever increasing demands on your muscles. You can do this by adding an
extra repetition, increasing the resistance, or shortening the rest
intervals. All three of these techniques are examples of progression.
For More, see "About
Resistance".
How many levels of resistance does the Kegel Master Exercise Device have?
The KegelMaster has 15 levels of
resistance. These levels are accomplished by a combination of spring
placement and the number of springs used. See
"Resistance Settings".
Is the
KegelMaster
really safe to use in such a delicate area?
Yes! The Kegel
Master was designed with special precautions:
- All of the components of
the KegelMaster are made with rounded edges.
- The spring housing area
is enclosed.
- The KegelMaster is
designed so that it will not close completely, thereby eliminating the
potential for pinching.
Additionally, since the
KegelMaster was the first product of its kind, the makers have the time to
improve upon their own, already effective, design.
Keep in mind, however, that
this should be treated as you would exercise equipment - be sure to follow
the directions; when increasing the resistance levels - do so in the
manner directed (start with the lowest level and increase only one level
at a time).
What is a Kegel muscle and where is it?
In the mid-1940's a Los
Angeles doctor, Dr. Kegel, proved that over 90% of all women can cure
incontinence problems by strengthening the PC (puboccogeal) or pelvic
floor muscle.
Due to significance of Dr. Kegel's work, the PC muscle is now commonly
referred to as the Kegel muscle. It is one of a larger group of vaginal
muscles located near the pelvic floor.
These muscles stretch
from front to back, directly below the pelvis. The muscles provide support
for internal organs such as the urinary track, birth canal, urethra,
uterus and rectum.
Why don't more women do Kegel exercises?
Even though many experts urge women to do
Kegel exercises, studies indicate that few women do them. The
problem is that simple verbal instruction on how to do the exercises isn't
enough. Without feedback, women don't know if they are toning the muscles
correctly. It makes sense that women would get discouraged and
discontinue the Kegel exercises.
That's where the Kegel
Master exercise device comes in;
it provides the feedback women need to know they are exercising the
correct muscles.
Why not just do Kegel exercises on my own?
You certainly can do Kegel exercises on
your own. However, there are a few drawbacks to this:
- Many women have difficulty locating the
correct muscles. Exercising the incorrect muscles (though they
may be in the same general area) may actually cause the Kegel muscles
to become weaker as the body becomes more dependent on these other,
now stronger, muscles.
- Performing Kegel exercises without the
benefit of a resistance aid (and we believe the KegelMaster is the
best!) actually limits the benefits of the exercise. Studies
indicate that merely "squeezing" these muscles has only
moderate results. Doing Kegel exercises with the
benefit of a resistance device produces faster results.
- Resistance devices promote greater
strengthening and toning results.
- Using a vaginal exerciser with
resistance allows you to obtain optimal results in less time.
